The interventions of the members of the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce Council, during their meeting with the Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Dr. Amr Salem, today focused on the necessity of setting prices that conform to reality for food, consumer and medical products, amending some articles of Law No. 8, and setting up a billing system to control supply and demand for goods.

The members also demanded the formation of an economic committee for each governorate that works in partnership with the Economic Committee to price foodstuffs and work to control prices, especially electric amp generators, provide oil derivatives for their operation, improve the loaf industry, and address the status of subsidized messages of gas, gasoline, heating oil, rice and sugar in order to deliver them to the citizen on time and transfer Sole proprietorships of limited liability companies.

The Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection explained the commercial and industrial importance of Aleppo, which constitutes the economic capital of Syria, stressing the ministry's continuous endeavor to enhance confidence with traders and industrialists to build the national economy and provide the best services to citizens according to the available and available capabilities.

In response to the interventions and questions raised, Minister Salem said that coordination and communication with owners of economic activities in all sectors is being carried out to set the appropriate pricing for all food and consumer items based on the real and correct cost and reasonable profit, pointing out that the ministry is working to secure the subsidized basic materials and put them through Syrian outlets for trade. To serve citizens, especially those with limited income.

He added that a developed mechanism has been put in place to handle and seize violating goods and commodities in cooperation with the Customs Directorate, and there is continuous communication with the Ministry of Finance, which is working to change and amend the tax law to address the status of financial assignments, and work is also being done to combat fraud and adhere to the Syrian standard specifications and the limited price of materials.

Amer Hamwi, head of the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce, called for liberalizing the prices of some items, including clothing, shoes, and spare parts, seeking to abolish the linking of commercial registration to social insurance, issuing a new tax law, and liberalizing the exchange within controls set by the Central Bank for government and private banks.

The meeting was attended by the Governor of Aleppo, Hussein Diab, the Secretary of the Aleppo Branch of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, Ahmed Mansour, and the central directors of the ministry.
