Can the ATS concept of designating their own trails for cyclists work out?

A comment by editor Gabi Werner on this.

Bad Wiessee's new image film may have pissed off some people.

But it had its good: It was through him that the discussion about mountain biking at Tegernsee was (again) started.

Thanks to the coherent and unexcited lecture by ATS representative Tim Coldewey, the debate in the Wiesse municipal council remained largely objective - and that is good for the otherwise often emotionally charged topic.

The steering group's concept of creating an attractive offer for mountain bikers in the district sounds promising, and there is one thing above all: there is no alternative. Because the crowd of mountain bikers who no longer only want to be out and about on wide forest roads is growing and cannot simply be argued away from nature. To dismiss these athletes as ruthless bullies does not do the scene justice. Sure: the black sheep do exist, but the majority of mountain bikers would certainly like to use specially designated trails and stick to the rules. Because cyclists are also not eager to move in legal gray areas and to give themselves unnecessary arguments. They want to practice their sport without a guilty conscience.Of course, the concept stands or falls with the quality of the designated routes - but if it is correct, the concept should work.
