Britain: Assassination of MP Ames - Terrorist Attack Israel today

London police suspect the motive for the assassination of the pro-Israel lawmaker is an Islamist ideology • The murder suspect is a British citizen of Somali descent


London Metropolitan Police announced this morning that according to an investigation into the murder of MP Sir David Ames, the assassination was a terrorist attack whose background is an extremist Islamist ideology of the terrorist.

According to the police statement, the incident was classified as a terrorist attack by the National Coordinator for the Police Fight against Terror Haydon.

Police also said the suspect in the murder, a 25-year-old man arrested following the act, was a British citizen of Somali descent.

According to the suspect, he stabbed Ames several times and then was arrested.

He is being held by Essex police and is under investigation.

Police conducted night searches of two homes in east London, apparently as part of a murder investigation.

Police claim that the killer acted alone and that at this stage there are no further wanted persons for investigation.

The interior minister, Raspberry Items, has asked police to look into the security conditions for MPs following the assassination.

Ames was a Conservative lawmaker and right-winger who supported Britain's disengagement from the European Union and for many years headed the country's pro-Israel lobby.

He served as a Member of Parliament for 38 years and was the father of five children.

The legislature was devoted to a variety of issues including the war on animal abuse, he was a well-known dog lover and even registered his dogs for competitions, awareness of endometriosis as well as the lack of adequate means of heating among the weaker sections.

This is the second assassination in five years of a Member of Parliament.

When in the course of MP Joe Cox shortly before the vote on the Brexit, during an event in which she tried to dissuade voters from supporting the departure of the union.

Cox's husband commented on the incident today, saying it was an "attack on democracy".

Foreign Minister Yair Lapid addressed the incident, and sent his condolences to Ames' family.
