Social life picked up speed again in 2021 despite Corona.
Some companies want to celebrate Christmas with their workforce again this year.
The entrepreneurs have to weigh the benefits and risks.
Magdeburg - After many failures in 2020, some companies in Saxony-Anhalt want to organize Christmas parties for their workforce again this year.
"Yes, there will be - as it is today - Christmas parties", reported a spokeswoman for the hotel and restaurant association Dehoga in Saxony-Anhalt.
Compared to the previous year, companies again booked more places in the catering trade.
Nevertheless, one observes a certain reluctance in the association.
"The most important thing for the guest and entrepreneur would be planning security," emphasized the Dehoga spokeswoman.
The uncertainty caused by the threat of closure of the catering trade is "extremely stressful" because of the long-term planning and purchasing of goods - not only financially, but also psychologically.
When deciding to host a Christmas party, companies would have to weigh the benefits and risks, said Burghard Grupe, managing director of the Chamber of Crafts (HWK) in Magdeburg. No company can afford longer workforce downtime due to illness or quarantine if colleagues become infected at the party. On the other hand, personal exchange in an informal atmosphere is immensely important for the working atmosphere, especially "after these difficult times", continued Grupe.
Grupe assumes that the events should take place under the 3G regulation. Only those who have been vaccinated and recovered are allowed to participate in the 2G scheme, and those who have been tested in the 3G scheme. 3G recommend the HWK as well as the common hygiene rules. “But we don't have to tell our member companies that.” Perhaps the workforce would meet at the Christmas market this year, for example, instead of in closed rooms, speculated Grupe. However, according to Dehoga in Saxony-Anhalt, there has been no general tendency among companies to move their Christmas parties outside.
The restaurateurs in the state capital are already seeing a lot of smaller bookings, said Matthias Nawroth from the Magdeburg restaurateurs working group.
The downside are increasingly rejections for large groups, since "corporate customers cannot assess the current Corona situation" and are much more cautious with larger liabilities.
Some companies reported that they could not make a clear statement about a possible Christmas party in mid-October.
The planning period is too long and the development of the infection process is also too uncertain.
Other companies such as the Halloren chocolate factory in Halle have already rejected a Christmas party.
There will be no festival, "because any unforeseeable restrictions make planning more difficult," said a company spokesman.
