A balcony door broken open, jewelry and cash missing inside: A family in the Frauenneuharting community fell victim to an evening burglary.
Frauenneuharting
- In the Friday evening hours, October 15th, between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. there was a break-in in Jakobneuharting (municipality of Frauenneuharting).
A hitherto unknown perpetrator pried open a balcony door of a single-family house and entered the building through this.
The Ebersberg police station reported on Saturday.
In the house, all rooms were ransacked by the perpetrator (s), with jewelry and cash with a total value of around 400 euros being stolen, the officials said.
Anyone who can provide relevant information is asked to contact the Ebersberg police station on 08092/82680.
Winter months: Burglars use the early sunset to scout out
The winter months, especially from November to March, are often associated with an increase in the number of break-ins - the outside lighting makes it easier for the perpetrators to see whether someone is in the house.
One usually speaks of twilight theft if the time of the crime can be narrowed down to the early evening.
The Bavarian Police provide tips on preventive measures and correct behavior on their website to prevent burglars from taking easy prey.
Over a third of the break-ins get stuck in the attempt, not least because of security equipment or because of attentive neighbors.
In addition, the police refer to free criminal police advice centers, who are the contact persons for individual questions on the subject of burglary prevention.
