“Equal rights for both,” said Eching's councilors when they approved the wooden terrace for a restaurant. Another “Italian” already uses one.

Eching

- For ten years now, the tenant of the Passione Italiana at Bahnhofstrasse 5 has been allowed to set up a fenced wooden patio in front of his restaurant during the summer months from May to October and to use a total of four adjacent parking spaces for this pub.

The same request has now been made by the operator of the neighboring restaurant at Bahnhofstrasse 9, the San Remo.

The tenant had waited a little longer with the application

As Mayor Sebastian Thaler explained at the meeting, the town hall administration advised the tenant to wait until the completion of the adjacent underground car park extension before submitting the application so that there are enough alternative parking spaces available in the immediate vicinity.

With the appropriate approval, these can also be used by the tenants during the outdoor management period.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

So far, only the sidewalk for a few outside tables has been used at this point.

But now, in analogy to the competition, an expansion of the open-air catering is desired.

Here, too, the construction of a temporary wooden podium over the summer months would mean dispensing with a parking bay in the center of the village, at this point with five places.

The approval for this must be applied for anew every year as part of a special use permit.

Bartl recalls "Uprising" ten years ago

“There was an uprising ten years ago,” recalled CSU spokesman Georg Bartl, who sees the temporary reduction in parking spaces on Bahnhofstrasse as a disadvantage for the businesspeople in the adjacent shops. FDPler Heinz Müller-Saala also followed this line of argument and voted together with Bartl against the approval of a second restaurant veranda on Bahnhofstrasse - which would inevitably have meant a ban on the previous practice of Passione Italiana. A clear majority of the council consisting of the BfE, the Greens, the Free Voters, the SPD and the rest of the CSU saw an increase in the quality of the stay and a revitalization in the expansion of outdoor catering on Bahnhofstrasse. That makes "the place more attractive",said Vice-Mayor Stefanie Malenke (SPD) and Angelika Pflügler (Greens) affirmed: “That is good for the atmosphere!” Carsten Seiffert (SPD) frankly admitted that he originally shared the concerns expressed by Bartl. But these are scattered, "because it has worked well for ten years."
