Founded almost 25 years ago and still as active as on the first day: The Agenda 21 group now developed new creative and innovative ideas at their meeting on Wednesday.

Petershausen - The meeting of the group, in which a dozen people from Petershausen are committed to sustainability on site and in all areas of life, took place for the first time under new management: the group has been coordinated by Mathilde Adler since July, who is supported by Alexander Heisler.

“Green” topics took up a lot of space in the discussion. The Agenda group wants to get involved in planting more trees - in Petershausen or elsewhere in the world. Adler asked to support supra-regional reforestation initiatives, but also to advertise new plantings in the area. Because every tree not only compensates a little for the man-made carbon dioxide emissions, but also helps to cool the village in future, ever warmer summers.

New plantings are therefore not only useful on compensation or biotope areas, where the Federal Nature Conservation Association is already active.

It is important, as Lydia Thiel emphasized, that explicitly tree species are again planted that reach impressive heights.

Because more "bigger trees in the middle of town" are needed again.

With this goal one wants to address owners of land, sensitize the community, generate awareness for the topic.

In order to gain more knowledge about the existing nature, coordinator Adler also thinks an event on edible plants is a good idea.

One also wants to deal with permaculture as an economic form that is able to generate enormous diversity in a small area.

An information event and film evenings are planned for this purpose.

This potpourri of activities will start in spring as a series of events for the anniversary year, because Agenda-21 will celebrate its 25th anniversary next year.

According to Adler, “we should plan something big”.

And if possible in cooperation with other groups such as the Bund Naturschutz or the horticultural association.

But the topic of mobility should also be tackled again.

A newly founded project group will develop proposals to improve the traffic situation for cyclists and pedestrians.

It should be considered whether bicycle streets or zones would also be an alternative in Petershausen, where parts of the already planned bicycle ring could perhaps be implemented more quickly.

You also want to contact the school helpers, as these volunteers could perhaps give valuable information about danger spots in the village.
