In homage to Albert Uderzo, a menhir soon to be erected in front of Angoulême station

This work is part of a series of tributes paid to the designer, who died in March 2020. It will join the Goscinny obelisk and will be inaugurated at the next International Comic Strip Festival.

The building, a large block of limestone, will weigh 8 tonnes and will be installed on the forecourt of Angoulême station, alongside the Goscinny obelisk, inaugurated in 2020.

argues François Desforges, whose job first consisted in lightening the original block, 22.5 tonnes heavy and measuring nearly 6.5 meters. The final result, expected in two weeks, should bring it back to 5 meters high, including the base. Everything will be inaugurated during the International Comics Festival (FIBD), which will be held from January 27 to 30 in the city of the South-West.

, who died of a heart attack in March 2020 at the age of 92, is the subject of a larger tribute from the municipality.

During a press conference held in July, Mayor Xavier Bonnefont (Les Républicains) and his deputies announced the creation of a fresco on the wall of a building located at 10 boulevard Pasteur.

This will also be unveiled during the 49th edition of the literary event.

Finally, a sustainable educational project will be carried out within the Uderzo elementary school.

Each year, the pupils of the same age group will have to work around the work of the designer.

Their productions will then be reproduced on the walls of the establishment.
