The “Gymnasium JETZT” interest group was founded in Poing.

With the demand to finally build the high school that has been announced and approved for a long time.

Poing - They no longer just want to hear speeches and appeasements, they want to see action: Andrea Lacour (48), Veronika Neu (46) and Martina Pillath (46) founded the “Gymnasium JETZT” interest group to ensure that the Gymnasium in Poing to fight.

In autumn 2017, the district council of the district of Ebersberg created the “master plan for schools”, in which the construction of a vocational school center in Grafing and a grammar school in Poing was included.

The latter should have gone into operation in the school year 2024/25.

For financial reasons, however, the district council has put the grammar school and the vocational school center on a waiting list.

Realization: uncertain.

Especially in the corona crisis it was said across the country that the future and the school education of children were the greatest good.

You don't feel any of that here. "

Martina Pillath

Lacour (administrative employee), Neu (personnel developer) and Pillath (teacher at the Poing am Bergfeld elementary school) each have two school-age children themselves and, to put it mildly, can no longer hear the speeches of the district politicians and cannot understand the postponement.

“Especially in the corona crisis, it was said across the country that the future and the school education of children were the greatest good.

You don't feel any of that here, ”says Martina Pillath.

Andrea Lacour adds that parents in Poing and the surrounding area were put off with false promises.

“It was said that fifth graders from Poing and the surrounding area who are now attending grammar school in Markt Schwaben could switch to Poing grammar school from 7th grade onwards.” Many parents had relied on that.

Gymnasium Poing should have opened in 2024

Now it is said that today's first graders might be lucky enough to be able to attend the 5th grade of a new Poingen high school.

“We are one of the communities with the largest number of children in Germany, more new development areas are being built, and the neighboring communities are also growing.

But the grammar school is at a standstill, although it has long been approved by the Ministry of Education, "says Veronika Neu and emphasizes that the provision of the grammar school should be a compulsory task for the district.

The criticism of the community of interests is directed at him and the district council, not at the local politics in Poing.

They have done their homework and are committed to the construction.

The district should now set an example and get started.

Andrea Lacour, Veronika Neu and Martina Pillath

The “Gymnasium JETZT” interest group now wants to get involved like a parents' initiative 15 years ago that fought for the construction of a secondary school.

In 2006 three mothers also got together, among other things they collected 1200 signatures.

Ultimately with success.

Lacour, Neu and Pillath could envision a similar path of implementation to the Dominik-Brunner-Realschule for the grammar school: It starts first in modules.

At the Realschule, this was the case for the first two years while construction work was in progress.

At the grammar school, the situation is the same as it was back then: the property is available, it belongs to the municipality of Poing and is being transferred to the district.

“He should now set an example and get started,” demand the three women.

And show courage and be flexible - also when it comes to financing.

Suggestion of the interest group: start high school with modules

Since 2013 there has been a citizens' initiative Gymnasium Poing (founded and led by 2nd Mayor Reinhard Tonollo, SPD), but “Gymnasium JETZT” wants to be active regardless of any political color and show that parents no longer accept the situation.

“The grammar school in Markt Schwaben is overcrowded, something has to be done now,” say Lacour, Neu and Pillath.

For the first few years, so their suggestion, the grammar school in Poing could initially be a branch of the Franz Marc grammar school in Markt Schwaben.

District refers to empty coffers

In September Poings Mayor Thomas Stark (independent) reported to the local council about a message from the district office on behalf of district administrator Robert Niedergesäß (CSU) on the current status of the grammar school.

It says that “the necessity and urgency of building the grammar school is seen as important”, but also: “Mr Niedergesäß points out that it is not yet foreseeable whether the grammar school Poing will be included in the budget as a major new building project can be or remains on the waiting list. "

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Ebersberg newsletter.)

According to the latest estimates by the District Office, the new building, including the gym and underground car park, would cost around 90.5 million euros gross.

The district authority expects 19.5 million euros in government grants.

Speaking of costs: The interest group has another argument in favor of quick implementation: "The longer you wait, the more the construction prices rise."
