CDU leader Armin Laschet faces the party’s youngsters just under three weeks after the disastrous performance of the Union in the federal election on Saturday (10.30 a.m.). At the Junge Union's Germany Day in Münster, the focus is on renewing the CDU in terms of personnel and content. Union Chancellor candidate Laschet had announced after the all-time low of only 24.1 percent for the Union to put its own ambitions on hold - the entire CDU federal executive board is to be re-elected at a special party conference.
Münster - Health Minister Jens Spahn will also speak in Münster and take a position in a discussion.
The eagerly awaited meeting between Laschet and CSU boss Markus Söder is canceled.
Instead, Söder would take part in a basic conference of the CSU, it said at short notice on Thursday from Munich.
The CSU chairman was inferior to Laschet in the power struggle for the Union's candidacy for chancellor, his cross shots against Laschet had triggered criticism.
