The parents' association has developed into a successful medium-sized company over the past few decades.

More than 300 people are employed in the facilities of the association, the annual turnover is in the double-digit million range.

"The association has become too big to continue to be responsible for a voluntary management body," said Jutta Maier, who has been the first chairwoman for almost 30 years and has already announced that she will no longer run for the next board elections in autumn 2022 want.

In the new statutes of the association, the previous board of directors becomes a voluntary supervisory board, which appoints the future full-time board of directors of the association in accordance with the new association statutes. For the first time, this leads to an actual separation of control of the management and responsibility for management and thus to an extensive elimination of the liability risks of voluntary workers. "In times of dwindling voluntary work, it is important that the risks associated with the office remain manageable," said Dr. Christoph Dorau, specialist lawyer for tax and non-profit law, who has been closely accompanying the restructuring of the association for a year. “The supervisory board controls and monitors the business of the board of directors and is above the board of directors in the organizational structure;he represents the interests of the members vis-à-vis the board of directors ”, Dorau informs the general meeting.

"We are striving for entry in the register of associations and thus for the new statutes to come into effect at the turn of the year", Maier informs those present.

The two previous management teams from the association and the workshop are to form the full-time board of directors.

Elke Molitor and Carolina Schelasin were honored for their 30-year membership.

The district of Unterallgäu, the city of Memmingen and the Sparkasse Memmingen can also look back on 50 years of membership in the association of Lebenshilfe.

Jutta Maier also honored Susanne Herz and Berndt Oehler for their 25-year commitment on the executive board of Lebenshilfe.

The main topic of the annual reports from the association and the Unterallgäu workshops was the management of the corona crisis in the various integration assistance facilities.
