White and blue are the colors of the Free State of Bavaria - silver and blue are those of the municipality of Moosinning.

The coat of arms can be found in many places there, two very special, hand-made ones are in the office of Mayor Georg Nagler.

Moosinning

- The silver key and the silver palm branch are heraldic images from the abbey coat of arms of the Benedictine monastery of St. Emmeram in Regensburg.

As symbols attributed to St. Wolfgang, they have been traceable on St. Emmeram seals since 1358.

They also adorn the coat of arms of the municipality of Moosinning on a blue background.

At that time Moosinning was a provost office, i.e. an ecclesiastical administrative area of a monastery.

"Inning", as it was called at the time, was first mentioned in 1031 as the property of St. Emmeram.

It shared the fortunes of the imperial monastery until it was abolished on the occasion of secularization in 1802. The provost's office was dissolved in 1810.

It made sense to use symbols of this manorial rule for the municipality's coat of arms.

In particular, keys and palm branches came into question here, which have been shown on the seals as coats of arms of the Benedictine monastery since 1358.

According to an old monastery tradition, they belong to the patron saint of the abbey, Saint Wolfgang.

In 1579 the place was called "Inning am Moosrain", 1650 Moßinning ", 1707" Moß Ining "and 1739" Mosining ", until it was finally given its current name Moosinning.

Incidentally, some of the current parts of the community were also mentioned early on, namely Eching (819), Stammham (924), Kempfing (1020) and Burgholz (1168).

In order to achieve a certain differentiation of the municipal coat of arms and thus also an artistic standardization when adopting the monastery coat of arms, the two originally side by side images key and palm branch were now shown crossed and instead of the pen colors white and red the colors white or silver and blue were chosen.

As with other municipal coats of arms in recent times, this color scheme is also intended to remind of the territorial affiliation of the place to the Wittelsbach region of Bavaria.

“The flag of Moosinning was originally blue-white-blue, like Argentina, and Munich was originally blue-white-blue too,” says Nagler and explains: “For a short time it was considered to include the plague chapel in the Moosinningen coat of arms.

But they decided on the Benedictine symbols. "

On October 20, 1950, the municipality was awarded the coat of arms designed by Emil Werz from Munich by the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior.

The year 1031 above the coat of arms indicates the first mention of the place.

However, this number is only used in the official seal.

Nagler is particularly proud of two coats of arms in his office - one is made of glass, one is made of iron.

"I got the glass coat of arms from Dr.

Get Kubo, ”says Nagler.

The long-time local councilor and former vice mayor Reinhold Kubo found it when he moved and gave it to the community.

"We owe the wrought-iron coat of arms to our house fairy Marianne Grahl-Schwarze," says Nagler. “Your father was a blacksmith in Eichenried.” In addition to his forge on Eicherloher Strasse, he also had a beer mug museum. Eduard Bernauer, who died in 2015, “also did very delicate things,” says Nagler. He was very happy when Grahl-Schwarze told him: “We have something else in the archive.” She had discovered the forged coat of arms, “and now it has a place of honor in my office”.

“Moosinning has a very successful coat of arms,” says Nagler.

“It's a very nice connection between the past and the present.” In this context, he explains that he always gives bridal couples whom he trusts as a gift a Moosinninger chronicle - with the coat of arms on the front - and tells them: “You are writing a chapter from Moosinning. "
