The issue of vaccination can divide society.

How do music and sports clubs and the fire brigade in the Freising district deal with it?

Freising

- Because of the debates about vaccination, the National Association for Homeland Care sees social peace in danger.

Not only in families or at school there are conflicts and disputes between vaccination opponents and vaccination supporters, but also in music or sports clubs.

And the fire department.

How do you deal with that in the Freising district?

Only vaccinated for gymnastics

Petra Silberbauer is the sports coordinator of VfR Haag.

She organizes courses, is a trainer herself - and she has introduced the strict 2G rule for the wide range that is offered to members again in presence.

So if you want to be part of qigong, yoga, “healthy back” or stepping in the gym, you have to be vaccinated or have recovered.

Petra Silberbauer explains that offering tests on site is not manageable in terms of personnel and finances.

However, in order to “signal to the few unvaccinated people that we are also taking care of them”, Silberbauer offers the courses in hybrid form if required - those who have not been vaccinated can take part online, that is at home.

"We want to offer this now, too, if too many come to a course, for example in yoga," says Silberbauer.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

So everything paletti?

“Of course you always have one or two vaccine skeptics,” she explains, “but social peace is not in danger here.

But on the contrary.

The 2G rule was very well received by everyone. ”In addition, during the pandemic, online courses were always used to keep in touch with the members:“ As a result, a lot of them stayed with them, ”said Silberbauer.

Despite the restrictions, the number of course participants is even increasing in Haag.

The town band is almost completely vaccinated

When the Stadtkapelle Freising is rehearsing, 3G applies.

"We offer quick tests to unvaccinated people on site in the pavilion of the music school," reports conductor Jürgen Wüst.

“But the need is limited.” However, this is not due to the fact that unvaccinated people no longer want to come, but rather to “that very, very many of us are vaccinated”.

In the past three samples, not a single test was necessary.

"There was and is no one who says: 'I'm getting out because of the restrictions'", reports Wüst.

“Vaccination is not a conflict issue.

We're about music - so our community doesn't suffer in any way. "

During rehearsals, one tries to keep the distances as wide as possible - but this is also possible with 25 musicians due to the size of the room.

In addition, there is a powerful ventilation system in the pavilion that ensures a real exchange of air.

Fire department: The prick is not an issue

The Allershausen fire brigade has been tried and tested when it comes to difficult operations - if only because of its proximity to the motorway. A major fire has just been mastered well. Commander Friedrich Moser can rely on everyone active - also when it comes to vaccination protection. “98 percent of them are vaccinated,” reports the commander. Otherwise, an operation cannot be managed effectively: You can no longer maintain distances. So you have to be able to rely on everyone being vaccinated. When doing exercises, you might be able to take the unvaccinated into consideration - but not when it's really urgent.

Very few firefighters were skeptical of the vaccination, reports the commandant.

“We also tested again and again.” That is no longer necessary: “The prospect of being able to be there again without restriction was the reason to go for the vaccination.” A vaccination debate or even a dispute about it There was never a topic in the Allershausen Wehr.

"If someone was annoyed", Moser looks back months, "then about the fact that they haven't been vaccinated yet."

The commander of the Freising Voluntary Fire Brigade, Oliver Sturde, says: “We don't have discussions about vaccinations.” At least 80 percent of the active - the hard core in Freising comprises around 130 emergency services - are vaccinated.

Many would have longed for it because they were afraid of being infected during an operation.

Now that is no longer an issue.
