The Homs badminton team achieved remarkable results in the Republic Championship for U-17 and 19-year-olds for men and women, which was hosted by Damascus with wide participation from various governorates.
The results of the Homs team in the championship resulted in Yara Al-Sawas winning first place for the girls’ singles under 15 years old, Sidra Al-Hosni first place for the girls’ singles under 17 years old, Shadi Al-Ansari second place for the males’ singles under 17 years old, and Laith Bazo third place in the under-17 years singles for males and Ayman Al-Habal second place in the men’s singles .
In a statement to SANA's sports reporter between the coach of the Homs national team, Ahmed Al-Sawas, that the tournament witnessed strong competitions and the emergence of good and close technical levels for most of the participants, pointing out that the distinction of the team's players was the result of the good preparation that preceded the tournament.
In the same tournament, the Hama team achieved acceptable results, represented by achieving third place in the U19 category for youth through Raad Al-Hamwi, and the player Haya Al-Qusair won the same position in the U19 category for young women.
The head of the technical committee for badminton, Khaled Al-Sheikh, told SANA reporter that the results of the team were generally acceptable compared to the short preparation period and the strength of the teams participating in the tournament, noting that the governorate is rich in many promising talents and raw materials in the young age groups, which awaits a good future if it continues with this sport and is available. It has the right conditions for its development.
