For five years, responsibility for Saxony-Anhalt's agriculture and forestry was in green hands - now CDU Minister Sven Schulze has taken over and is relying on an improved relationship with the associations.
"As a minister, I have now seen that one of my first tasks is to bring this communication back to life, which in the last few years has been quite disrupted between politics, between the responsible ministry and the associations," said Schulze on Saturday after several hours of conversation with representatives of around 20 associations in Magdeburg.

It was about the preparation for the African swine fever, about the agrarian structure law, about pig prices and also about dealing with organic farming. Last month, Sven Schulze took over the agriculture department headed by the Green Minister Claudia Dalbert for five years. The minister had experienced severe headwinds from farmers and foresters. At the beginning of the legislative period there were even crisis meetings in the state chancellery.
Federal Minister of Agriculture Julia Klöckner was also at the current meeting under different circumstances.
"A different wind is blowing here now in Saxony-Anhalt, you have to say very clearly, in agriculture," said the CDU politician.
Agriculture is understood as a professional and economic branch from which one has to live.
On the subject of the forest, everyone involved agreed that the CO2 binding and thus the climate protection performance of the forest had to be rewarded.

The subject of animal welfare and saving on pesticides was also discussed.
Overall, everyone agrees, said Klöckner: “The common good in the environment, climate and animal welfare costs more.
And we have to reward the farmers for that too. "
In the coming year, Saxony-Anhalt will host the conference of agriculture ministers, according to Schulze, meetings are planned in Magdeburg and Quedlinburg.
