The corruption and bribery scandal surrounding ex-Chancellor Sebastian Kurz comes onto the stage: actors from the Vienna Burgtheater present selected short messages in cooperation with the daily newspaper »Der Standard«.

Investigators from the Vienna Economic and Corruption Prosecutor's Office found more than 300,000 chat messages on the smartphones and computers of the former top official Thomas Schmid - it was the big bang of a state affair that shook the whole of Austria.

Now six actors from the Vienna Burgtheater read out selected messages in which Schmid communicated with ex-Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, among others.

The ensemble members Regina Fritsch, Daniel Jesch, Christoph Luser, Dörte Lyssewski, Robert Reinagl and Nils Strunk slip into the roles of Sebastian Kurz, Thomas Schmid and other suspects in the affair in the 20-minute long video.

Dörte Lyssewski is the narrator.

The entire video can be found on the website of the »Standard« under this link.

In the cooperation, the »Standard« took over the selection of the chats, worked out the text version and was responsible for the video production.

The Burgtheater was responsible for the artistic implementation of the reading;

its director Martin Kušej directed.

The recording took place on the rehearsal stage in the Vienna Arsenal.
