Berlin - 1. FC Union Berlin has dealt the next setback for coach Mark van Bommel's team with its first victory over VfL Wolfsburg.
Lower Saxony, who started the season so well, lost 2-0 (0-0) in the An der Alten Försterei stadium on Saturday and have now been without a win for six competitive games.
Taiwo Awoniyi scored the goals in front of 11,006 spectators after fine preparatory work by former Wolfsburg Max Kruse in the 49th minute and Joker Sheraldo Becker (83rd).

The Weißenfelser prevailed on Thursday in a dramatic game against the Basketball Löwen Braunschweig with 106: 101 (89:89, 42:44) in the first extra time.
Goran Huskic (21 points) made the success perfect with two converted free throws.
The outstanding Chris Coffey (31), Nikola Rebic (15) and Behnam Yakchali (13) also had an enormous share in the first win of the season for the Central Germans.

Alba Berlin has suffered the next bankruptcy in the basketball league.
On Sunday the Berliners lost to the MHP Giants Ludwigsburg after a weak offensive performance with 62:74 (33:45).
The German champions have already lost two of their previous three league games and are now slipping into the table basement.
The best throwers from Berlin were Luke Sikma with 20 and Maodo Lo with 15 points.

HSV clearly loses a test match at VfL Wolfsburg 1: 4
Second division soccer club Hamburger SV has clearly lost a test match at the higher-class VfL Wolfsburg.
With 1: 4 (0: 3) the Hanseatic League had to admit defeat to the superior Bundesliga club on Wednesday afternoon in the VW city after a disappointing performance, especially in the first half.
HSV made too many individual mistakes and deservedly lost.

In the table, the Wolfsburg had to let the iron pass them. Thanks to the success in the 21st home game without defeat in a row, Union initially settled in the upper third of the table and celebrated with the third win in a row a perfect preparation for the game in the Conference League next Thursday at Feyenoord Rotterdam. But none of it was so compelling.
Substitute Becker punished the guests with the decisive second Union goal after a fine cross from also substituted Andreas Voglsammer.
