Union parliamentary group leader Ralph Brinkhaus considers the substantive basis of a possible traffic light coalition to be "not stable". The Union parties would have to appear in the opposition and draw attention to "undesirable developments".

Union parliamentary group leader Ralph Brinkhaus is striving for a "constructive and binding" role in the opposition.

»The breaks between the traffic light partners are more than clear.

The substantive basis for the traffic light is not stable, «writes Brinkhaus on Saturday in a letter to the parliamentary group members, which is available to the dpa news agency.

The Union faction will now take up its role in the opposition.

"Constructive and binding, without 'foaming at the mouth', but also very determined to point out undesirable developments for the country and develop alternatives," said Brinkhaus, who as a possible applicant for the CDU top and thus as the successor to party leader Armin Laschet is traded.

The SPD, FDP and the Greens only reached agreement on social issues, according to Brinkhaus.

In addition, the proposals are not counter-financed.

A general reference is made to the topic of reducing subsidies.

»This means tax increases for millions of citizens in this country.

The dismantling of 'environmentally and climate-damaging subsidies' means nothing more than increases in petrol prices, questioning the commuter allowance and higher burdens for farmers, ”criticized Brinkhaus.

Brinkhaus is considered a possible successor to Laschet

Brinkhaus had already stated on Friday that the results of the exploratory talks between the SPD, FDP and the Greens were "vague and unclear in many areas."

In addition, the exploratory paper shows that essential election promises of the traffic light parties are not being kept.

On Sunday, Brinkhaus wants to be the last top politician to speak at the Junge Union (JU) Germany Day.

In addition to the economic expert Friedrich Merz, health minister Jens Spahn, foreign politician Norbert Röttgen and economic politician Carsten Linnemann, he is considered a possible candidate for the CDU leadership and thus as the successor to party leader Armin Laschet.
