Mülheim an der Ruhr - Around three months after the flood disaster, the sunken passenger ship “Moornixe” is back on land in Mülheim an der Ruhr. Early on Sunday morning it was lifted smoothly out of the water over the trees onto a semi-trailer with a 450 ton crane, reported ship owner Heinz Hülsmann on Sunday. “Everything went wonderfully.” The recovery was completed within about an hour. The approximately 18-meter-long wreck then came to a specialist company.
There, experts should get an idea of the passenger ship that was swept away by a tree during the Ruhr flood in July and pulled under water at a weir.
It was later discovered in an old arm of the Ruhr.
At first glance, a lot of dents and a few cracks can be seen, the hull is deformed.
“The upper deck is dented,” said Hülsmann.
He hopes the excursion boat can be repaired.
With the rescue on Sunday night, an elaborate rescue operation came to an end: Last week, firefighters and a rescue company brought the mermaid back to the surface of the water in a multi-day operation.
For this purpose, inflatable lifting bags were attached to the ship, which pumped it upwards.

The Moornixe already has an eventful history behind it: Since 1933 she was on the road as "Baldeney" on the Baldeneysee in Essen, later she drove as "Mixe" on the Moselle and as "Moornixe" in Wiesmoor in East Frisia.
In 2018, Hülsmann brought her back to the Ruhr area.
