Eighteen people were killed and others were missing today due to torrential rains in Kerala, southern India.
And local media reported that the heavy rains that fell on the state caused floods and landslides, killing 18 people and missing others.
The Indian Army, Air Force and Navy joined local government agencies in the rescue effort.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced that all government agencies have been ordered to take necessary steps to rescue people in affected areas and evacuate others from areas prone to landslides and floods.
