Australian police have seized the country's largest heroin shipment, worth about A$140 million (US$104 million).
The BBC quoted the authorities as saying that a shipment of heroin weighing 450 kilograms and containing 1,290 packages was discovered in a container carrying a shipment of ceramics sent from Malaysia to a company located in Melbourne and seized in the port of Melbourne, which is the largest in the country.
She added that a Malaysian person was arrested in connection with the incident.
In turn, Chrissy Barrett of the Federal Police said that the shipment could have been divided into millions of individual doses, noting that the confiscation process saved many lives.
