Despite the common belief that we all lie and do quite a bit, new research shows that reality is more complex and that in fact most of humanity lies very little and mostly white lies.
Social researchers led by Dr. Kim Serota of the University of Auckland in New Zealand examined for 91 days some 116,000 lies of various kinds told by undergraduate students in the United States.
The interesting findings from the study, which were also published in the academic journal Communication Monographs, change the social convention on lies and find that in fact most people lie about 2 lies, mostly whites, or less per day when a small number of people are revealed as lying liars, i.e. Set to lie, beautify reality or present it conveniently to them.
"We found that 75 percent of people lie infrequently and about 90 percent of these lies are white lies. In fact, one in a hundred people do not lie at all and most others lie very infrequently when there are an unusual number who can be said to be liars," explains Dr. Kim Sarota. The main conclusion from the study is that people are more reliable and less liars than we tend to think. "
In fact according to the researcher "there may be a connection between certain character types or demographic and other characteristics and people who tend to lie a lot".
However the researcher admitted that it is not possible to predict who will lie and there is no clear personality pattern that can be determined for her that she has a greater potential to not tell the truth and noted that "it is also possible It's different from what it is. "
