Following the retirement of Intelligence Minister Eliezer Stern in the race for the Jewish Agency's presidency last week, it has now become clear that Diaspora Minister Nachman Shai may run for office.
On behalf of Shai, they preferred not to comment on the issue.
During his 10 years as Knesset member on behalf of the Labor Party, Shai, a former IDF spokesman and commander of the IDF waves, served as chairman of the lobby for strengthening ties with the Jewish people and also in the lobby for strengthening US-Israel relations.

As mentioned, Foreign Minister Yair Lapid appealed to the Jewish Agency's selection committee last week, after Minister Stern withdrew his candidacy following the storm of shredding complaints, requesting that they postpone the election until another agreed government candidate is found. -4:00 pm.
With the removal of Stern's candidacy from office, the question of the placement of the minister without portfolio, Eli Avidar, who was supposed to take over the position of Minister of Intelligence in Stern's place, came up for discussion.
If this is indeed the case, and the candidacy of the Minister of the Diaspora does rise, it is possible that this is the role that the coalition is trying to fill for Avidar.
