Demonstrators demanded to restore the coup and ensure better living conditions • The protesters waved signs including: "The patient civilians are hungry" and "One people, one army" • Will the developments in Sudan affect relations with Israel?

Sudan is no longer quiet again:

Thousands of civilians protested yesterday (Saturday) in front of the presidential palace in the capital Khartoum, demanding "reconstructing the coup" and ensuring better living conditions.

This was reported by the Turkish government news agency Anadolu.

The demonstrators waved flags and carried signs that read, among other things, "The patient civilians are hungry," as well as "One people, one army."

Beyond that, they shouted messages calling for the overthrow of the Transitional Council headed by Abdul Fatah al-Burhan.

Developments in Sudan in general and what happened on Saturday in particular may be a cause for concern for both Israel and the Biden administration, as Washington is currently working with Khartoum - with the aim of completing the normalization process, sending a permanent Sudanese representative to Israel - and of course opening a delegation.

Of all the countries in the Abrahamic Accords, Sudan, which on Saturday will mark a year since the declaration of normalization of its relations with Israel, it is the only one that has not taken such actions.

In fact, the entire country is at a crossroads whose relations with Jerusalem are directly affected by this junction.

An official Israeli-Sudanese ceremony to sign the agreement in the White House could lead to great outrage on the streets of the country, which for years has been one of the leaders in anti-Israel anti-Israel policy.

On the other hand, the continuation of the protest and the overthrow of the Transitional Council are likely to lead to a renewed severance of relations with Israel, as it is known that Sudanese Prime Minister Abdullah Hamduk is reluctant to normalize relations with Israel.

Today, the Transitional Council consists of 14 members: five from the military leadership, six from the civilian leadership (the Coalition for Freedom and Change, and three others joined in February as representatives of the armed organizations that signed a peace agreement with the Transitional Council in October last year. Al-Bashir, tensions between the military leadership and the civilian leadership in Khartoum continue to escalate - with 21 August 2019 stipulating that Sudan's transition period will continue until early 2024.

Beyond that, this exact month, the Transitional Council is having a very hard time taking control of a large-scale protest of the Beja tribe in the east of the country.

All of these indicate that when it comes to the situation in Khartoum there are far more question marks than exclamation marks.
