An Amtrak train crashes into a semi-trailer stalled on a track in Oklahoma

The car was trapped due to its weight and the height of the road. The driver managed to get out safely, but several people were transported to hospital with minor injuries.

An Amtrak train crashed into a semi-trailer carrying cars in Oklahoma on Friday, injuring several people aboard the train, according to authorities. 

The incident reported by ABC News occurred at 7 pm (local time) Friday in Thackerville, near the Oklahoma-Texas border.

The semitrailer got stuck on the tracks minutes before the train passed through

, Love County Sheriff Marty Grisham told ABC.  

The shocking images were recorded by a passerby who called 911 to alert authorities.

The semitrailer got stuck because it was loading a lot of cars and the train tracks are built "higher" at that junction, according to Grisham.  

After the collision,

five people who were on board the 822 train were transferred to two hospitals in the area,

with minor injuries.

The driver and his dog managed to get out and were not injured.

All the people have already been discharged.

This train operates daily between Fort Worth and Oklahoma City and was carrying 110 passengers and crew members at the time of the accident. 

Local authorities are conducting a traffic investigation into the incident, an Amtrak spokesman said. 

The weight of the trailer and the height of the tracks caused it to stall. Love County Fire Department.

"This train was canceled north of the scene of the incident and customers were provided substitute transportation," Amtrak said in a statement.

Following the call from Brandon Sampson, the passerby who captured the video,

authorities tried to contact the rail network operator, but the train could not be stopped in time.

No person was seriously injured. Love County Fire Department.

At the moment of impact, several debris flew all over the area along with parts of the cars.

After the accident, the front of the train was affected.

Clean-up work lasted until Saturday morning,

allowing Amtrak to resume normally.
