Shooting is allowed again: After extensive renovation work, the Apfeldorfer Schützenverein has completed its new shooting range.

The facility can be viewed on Sunday at an open day.

Apfeldorf

- There was a lot of work behind it - but it was worth it: The Schützenverein Apfeldorf now has a state-of-the-art shooting range on the one hand, and a renovated changing room on the other.

The hard-working construction team has achieved a lot: The shooting ranges have been renovated and converted to electronics.

In the changing rooms, the wooden paneling had to be removed and everything covered with plasterboard.

Most of the necessary work was carried out by the rifle club itself.

Corona has delayed work

"Almost 40 people from the club worked on the construction," reports shooting master Evelyn Baab.

A good 1,800 working hours came together in the process.

Due to the corona pandemic, the renovation work was somewhat delayed: "Only two people were allowed to work together," says the rifleman looking back.

But after seven months of construction it was done: The shooting range is finished and was tested immediately after acceptance at the opening shooting stage, where a hand-painted target donated by honorary marksman Karl Baab was shot.

Now everything fits in with the legal requirements

During the opening shooting, the members were able to see that the new system brings decisive advantages for the shooters: If a shot is fired, the value is immediately visible on a display board.

Because a sensor measures the shot value immediately.

The shooter does not have to go to the evaluation to know how good his shot was.

Everything now runs electronically - and the new system no longer needs any cables.

The switch to electronics was only part of the renovation of the shooting range.

The premises had to be completely rebuilt as they no longer met the legal requirements.

Evelyn Baab explains that there was not enough space in the old shooting ranges both upwards and backwards.

14 stands became 11

It was therefore necessary to bring the system to one level (previously there were two).

The upper level was completely eliminated, the 14 stands have now become eleven.

“But everything is going faster now.” In this respect, eleven stands are sufficient.

The renovation and reconstruction work came to a total of almost 80,000 euros.

However, the club benefited from a funding program that the Bavarian state government launched for the construction of shooting ranges.

As a result, the association received a grant of 55 percent.

The community of Apfeldorf contributed 16,000 euros, and members donated around 5,000 euros.

The rifle club takes care of the rest.

Open house today

The club now invites everyone from Apfeldorf and all shooting enthusiasts from near and far to the open house on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Not only can the new shooting range be visited: If you want, you can also try out the shooting range for yourself.

At 1 p.m., Father Janusch will give the church's blessing to the new shooting range.

After greetings and the handover of the opening disc, the premises are then open for viewing.

In the Schützenheim there is coffee and cake for the visitors.

The shooting club points out that it is legally obliged to check the implementation of the 3G rules at the open house.
