Brinkhaus sees the "tightest left agenda" for decades at traffic light parties

Armin Laschet and Friedrich Merz found words of praise for the result of the traffic light explorations. Ralph Brinkhaus, however, vigorously distributes against the plans - and thus encounters opposition from the Junge Union.

Unlike the CDU politicians Armin Laschet and Friedrich Merz, Union faction leader Ralph Brinkhaus has again sharply criticized the exploratory results of the SPD, Greens and FDP. "This is the tightest left-wing agenda that we have had in Germany for decades," said Brinkhaus on Sunday at the Junge Union's Germany Day in Munster. The exploratory paper presented on Friday is a "social cornucopia" and a "social make a wish".

"Everything is given to everyone," criticized Brinkhaus.

However, the plans are "not financed at all".

It is not clear in the paper that the debt brake should be adhered to.

There should be no tax increases, but subsidies should be abolished.

That means "that the commuter allowance will be abolished, diesel will be more expensive," said the CDU politician.

He also accused the three parties of striving for a different image of society and wanting to rebuild the image of the family.

JU criticism of Brinkhaus: "The thesis is too clumsy"

From Brinkhaus' point of view, the FDP was unable to get through the explorations.

He compared the desired coalition of traffic lights with a traffic light that was "red for a long time and green for a long time," but yellow for only a few seconds.

The paper contained "pitifully little" on the areas of technology and innovation or on the implementation of climate targets, he continued to criticize.

Germany is also heading towards a “big city coalition”, “life in rural areas will not take place there”.

However, Brinkhaus also received opposition from the ranks of the Junge Union for his attacks on the traffic light parties.

A delegate said with a look at the FDP chairman: "The thesis that socialism breaks out in Germany with Christian Lindner is too clumsy."

Previously, the CDU boss and candidate for Chancellor Laschet and the former Union parliamentary group leader Merz had found words of praise for the traffic light plans.

"We could have participated in a lot," said Laschet on Saturday in his speech at the Junge Union.

"The paper that was presented is fine." Merz spoke of a "considerable paper".

Brinkhaus went tough with the Union in Münster after the election disaster.

"We have to change the way we work together," he said.

Loyalty and solidarity should be the focus again.

Brinkhaus referred as a positive example in the election campaign to the SPD, which stood like a block and was successful without content.

With reference to indiscretions from internal meetings, he sharply attacked party friends.

“It's a question of attitude.

Internal matters must remain internal, ”said the group chairman.

Those who do not have the attitude that the political opponent is not in their own party cannot go with them on the way back to the Chancellery.

In the discussion that followed, Brinkhaus attracted the displeasure of the Junge Union.

A delegate had asked him for his opinion on what the search for a new party leader should look like.

The CDU politician did not want to commit himself and compared the questioner to a journalist.

The JU chairman Tilman Kuban joined the discussion and criticized Brinkhaus for the statement.

The guest stayed with them and referred to his moderating role in the parliamentary group.

In addition to economic expert Friedrich Merz, health minister Jens Spahn, foreign politician Norbert Röttgen and economic politician Carsten Linnemann, Brinkhaus is considered a possible candidate for the CDU leadership and thus as the successor to party leader Laschet.
