Damascus Governorate has completed the removal of more than 25 thousand cubic meters of dirt and rubble from the meat market in Zabaltani behind the knitting blocks in preparation for the start of its rehabilitation to put it in service again.
The Governor of Damascus, Engineer Adel Al-Olabi, stated in a statement to SANA’s delegate today that the governorate’s workshops will start the rehabilitation and maintenance of the infrastructure, including sidewalks, lighting, water, electricity and sewage networks, after they have completed the removal of dirt and debris, and will provide all facilities for shop owners to start restoring their shops in conjunction with their work to put the market in service as soon as possible. Possible time because of the importance of being a wholesale market dedicated to the sale of all kinds of meat.
The market, as explained by Eng. Al-Olabi, includes 138 shops, 85 of which are permanently rented for forgoes and 53 shops through investment for a specified period according to a public auction, and they were destroyed and sabotaged by terrorist organizations that were present in the area.
