The former head of the Green Youth Baden-Württemberg, Lena Schwelling, is applying for the state chairmanship of her party.
“These are so exciting times that I really want to help shape them,” tweeted the Ulm native (born 1992) on the weekend.
"Let's start a new chapter in green politics, together and full of courage and joy!"
Ulm - State party leaders Sandra Detzer and Oliver Hildenbrand are no longer running at the party conference in early December.
Schwelling was born in Filderstadt (Esslingen district) and grew up in Tübingen.
After studying German and history at the University of Stuttgart, she has been studying public management at the University of Public Administration and Finance in Ludwigsburg since 2019.
She has represented the Greens in Ulm's municipal council since 2014 and has been managing the parliamentary group's office since April of this year.
From 2015 to 2019 she was state spokeswoman for the Green Youth in the Southwest and has been part of the state board of the party in Baden-Württemberg at dpa since 2019
