For fresh water: plastic pipes instead of ailing cast pipes in Wettlkam

Otterfing - Wettlkamer Strasse in Otterfing urgently needs to be renovated.

Before that, new water pipes will be laid.

The municipal councils have been planning a new water pipe and a new road from Otterfing to Wettlkam for a long time.

Both are getting on badly.

Something is happening now in terms of water: work has recently begun on laying a new high-pressure line that will reliably supply Wettlkam.

As managing director Markus Stark announced at the latest meeting of the local council, the work was awarded to renew the public water supply line from Bergham to Wettlkam.

The company Richard Schulz from Großweil was given the opportunity at an offer price of just under 585,000 euros.

Jump in altitude to Wettlkam

As a first step, the pipeline system in Otterfing and Bergham has already been modernized.

The first part of the 1,600 meter long pipeline from Bergham to the vicinity of the bird of prey sanctuary was built using the directional drilling process, in which the road did not have to be laboriously dug up.

From the bird of prey sanctuary, the approximately 15 centimeter thick PVC pipe is now being buried in the conventional manner until shortly before Wettlkam and, above all, next to dirt roads.

The jump in height after Wettlkam should then be overcome again using the directional drilling method.

Rehabilitation of the road planned for 2022

Building authority manager Hubert Zellner estimated that the work would be completed by the end of November.

With the new water pipeline, the water pressure in Wettlkam will rise from around 2 bar to a stable 6 bar.

Zellner also said that the renovation of the road could also begin in 2022.

So far, the project has been slowed down by necessary land negotiations.

In the meantime, however, all the prerequisites for a reasonable expansion are in place.

Whether, how and when the small road to Wettlkam is tackled depends on the budget situation in Otterfing and the decision of the local council.
