The Minister of Defense, Bnei Gantz, spoke tonight (Sunday) at the "We will remember songs" ceremony in memory of Yitzhak Rabin, on the 26th anniversary of his assassination in the Menashe Regional Council, Gan Shmuel.

An official memorial service for Rabin is expected to take place tomorrow, without the presence of opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu, who has announced that he will not attend.

Defense Minister Ganz said that "Rabin, who emerged from the security field, recognized as a national leader not only the surrounding security challenges, but also the need to extend a strong and confident hand to the Arab citizens of the country."

"This moral duty is still valid today, when we see the epidemic of violence," Ganz continued.

"We have the task of connecting Arab society, of making it a part of us, of providing for all its needs."

Meanwhile, opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu will not attend tomorrow's state memorial service for Rabin on Mount Herzl.

People around him say that the head of the opposition is not obliged to attend the ceremony according to the minutes and that he will speak at the memorial meeting that will be held in the afternoon in the Knesset, in accordance with the minutes.

At another rally held in Rabin's memory, Education Minister Dr. Yifat Shasha-Bitton said that "the bullets that pierced Rabin's body also pierced the entire Israeli society.

The heinous murder was preceded by a harsh atmosphere, sharp polarization, toxic and very violent discourse.

We did not imagine that such a terrible thing could happen here, here in Israel. "

Shasha Bitton said that the three shots in the square in Tel Aviv shattered everything we thought we knew.

The Minister of Education continued: "As someone who believes in the education system in Israel - the most important system not only for our lives now, but also for our future - I see paramount importance in creating a learning environment free of violence and bullying for all Israeli students. We must learn to talk, listen and respect different opinions."
