By 2030, all vehicles in the Hamburg administration's fleet are to be electric.

But there is still a long way to go, because combustion engines have dominated up to now.

And there is obviously a need for action with the charging options.

Hamburg - The Hamburg Greens want to speed up the conversion of the urban fleet to emission-free vehicles. "Climate-friendly electric vehicles are ready for series production and ready for use," said the energy expert of the parliamentary group, Johannes Müller, of the German press agency. "As the Greens, we are working to ensure that they are procured as a standard solution for municipal companies and authorities as quickly as possible and only emission-free as soon as possible."

A small written request to the red-green Senate had shown that combustion engines are still the most widespread in most state and municipal companies.

Of the 31 vehicles in the Senate's fleet, only 3 are fully electric.

26 vehicles are so-called plug-in hybrids with electric and combustion engines, 2 are still pure combustion engines.

But that is about to change: In the medium term, the Senate intends to “use exclusively hybrid and fully electric types of drive,” says the answer to the inquiry.

Exceptions due to security requirements are possible.

The entire car fleet of the state and district administration is to be fully electrified by 2030 - this is what the Hamburg Climate Protection Act says.

But it is not always easy to find a climate-friendly replacement, admitted Müller. There are still challenges with commercial and emergency vehicles, which are temporarily not yet available off the shelf for every special purpose. “Here, too, we are working flat out on climate-friendly solutions together with the manufacturers. With normal cars, however, there is no longer any need to continue using combustion engines. "

Meanwhile, the CDU sees an urgent need for action in terms of public charging infrastructure.

Of almost 1700 municipal administration properties, only 66 had charging stations, said the parliamentary group's environmental expert, Sandrokap.

According to the Senate's answer to his written minor inquiry, there are only around 250 charging stations available for municipal employees.

"So it is not surprising that the urban vehicle fleet continues to consist predominantly of combustion engines and that the city is miles behind the actual development of e-cars."

According to the Hamburg electricity network, there are currently a total of 1,300 charging points for e-cars in the city.

"At the beginning of this development, Hamburg was once a leader in the expansion of the public charging infrastructure, but now Hamburg is being passed through to the rear because the expansion has stagnated for some time," said the transport policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group, Richard Seelmaecker.

“There are hardly any new charging stations.

As a result, more and more e-cars have to compete for free e-charging stations. ”Dpa
