As an “important ambassador for the district”, the Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn brass band received the first-ever culture award from the district of Munich.

Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn

- The Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn brass band presents different musical genres with its different line-ups.

"The representation of folk music ensembles up to chamber music ensembles is a cultural specialty in the brass music scene", the cultural advisor of the district and jury member Rainer Klier is quoted in a press release.

The chapel has thus earned the district's culture prize, which was awarded for the first time.

In addition to decades of commitment and countless, even international concert tours, it is above all the successful work with young talent that impressed the jury.

The cultural promotion award, which is also being awarded for the first time, goes to the young filmmakers of “moviejam” on the one hand and to the Oberlandler theater youth on the other.

Alexander Spöri, Colin Maidment, Luca Zug, Leon Golz, Paul Schweller and Vitus Rabe from “moviejam” stand for a holistic audiovisual concept.

The group from Taufkirchen and Unterhaching organizes everything itself, from the idea to the implementation to the showing and marketing of the documentary films.

Already multiple award-winning

With their award-winning works such as “Olympia 72”, “Unforgotten” or “Gray is not a color”, they take up socio-political issues and bring them into the public eye.

In this way, “moviejam” triggers discussions across society.

The jury is convinced that much can still be expected from this group.

The holistic concept also convinced the jury of the Oberlandler Theaterjugend.

You write the pieces yourself, take care of the stage design and appear on stage as an actor.

The members come from Arget, Altkirchen, Otterfing, Hofolding, Holzkirchen, Hartpenning and Darching.

For their pieces they make use of local history and implement them.

This is a valuable contribution to the theater landscape in the Munich district.

The Oberlandler Theaterjugend stands for cultural exchange across community and district boundaries.

In addition, with their performances they make a valuable contribution to the preservation of the Bavarian language.

Cultural advisor Rainer Klier is enthusiastic

"Both Moviejam and the Oberlandler Theaterjugend have so impressed us as a jury in their entirety that we would not have found it fair to award only one of the two groups," explains cultural consultant Klier.

The Committee for Sport, Culture and Partnerships of the District of Munich unanimously confirmed the selection made by the jury in advance from the 23 proposals submitted on time.

The importance of art and culture is particularly evident in the Corona period

“Especially in times of Corona, we notice very intensely how important art and culture are for our social life.

Artists and cultural workers are a supporting pillar of our community and our coexistence in the district.

I am delighted that we are setting an example for the importance of art and culture with the introduction of a culture award and that we can honor this valuable commitment accordingly, ”said District Administrator Christoph Göbel, according to the press release, when the decision to create the awards was made in April.

Prizes are endowed with 1000 and 500 euros respectively

With the culture award, the district of Munich honors outstanding achievements in the cultural, artistic and scientific fields.

The cultural promotion award is intended to motivate talented district citizens to become permanently involved in culture.

The district office reports that the prizes will be awarded every two years in future.

The culture award is endowed with prize money of 1000 euros, the cultural sponsorship award with 500 euros.

A jury of experts led by cultural advisor Rainer Klier will decide on the awarding of the prizes.
