The Siamang monkey

can also be admired in the calendar.

His loud singing echoes miles across the Hellabrunn borders every morning.

Siamangs are not only loud but also excellent singers.

With their soprano technique, they are in no way inferior to professional opera singers, as Japanese researchers at Kyoto University discovered.

Its oversized throat pouch, which inflates when singing, serves as a resonance body.

The Siamang belongs to the genus of gibbons. In the wild, the primates use their calls to communicate with potential partners, but also with other conspecifics.

The Hellabrunn calendar costs ten euros and is available at the zoo cash desk and in the zoo shops.
