After silver at the World Cup downhill in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Kira Weidle has now received gold: the ski racer from Starnberg was named the best German downhill skier by the German Ski Association and received the Golden Ski 2021 for it.
Starnberg
- Last winter was by far the most successful for Kira Weidle - crowned with silver downhill at the World Championships in Cortina d'Ampezzo (Italy). The athlete from the Starnberg Ski Club also received numerous successes and awards in 2021. Another was added yesterday: When its athletes were officially outfitted for the coming winter, the German Ski Association (DSV) chose the 25-year-old from Starnberg as the best German downhill skier of the year.
It was the unsurprising result of a vote among all DSV activists.
Kira Weidle is happy to take the “Golden Ski” as a trophy - and it was not the only award that went to SC Starnberg: Ski crosser Florian Fischer was voted one of the “Junior Sportsmen of the Year”.
The eldest son from the skiing enthusiast Graefelfinger family took fourth place at the Junior World Championships in ski cross in Krasnoyarsk (Russia) in 2021.
He, too, has now received a "Golden Ski".
The highest DSV award for “Skier of the Year” went this year to ski jumper Karl Geiger (28) from Oberstdorf, who had won four world championship medals and the ski flying world championship.
