The Centre for Health Protection announced today (17th) that there were 3 new imported cases in Hong Kong, all of which were asymptomatic. The patients arrived in Hong Kong from the Philippines and Kyrgyzstan. They all carried the L452R variant virus.
In addition, there are about 5 preliminary confirmed cases today.

The new cases are all imported cases and involve infection of mutant virus strains, involving 2 males and 1 female, aged between 17 and 63. Two of them arrived in Hong Kong from designated areas in Group A (high risk), and one was designated by Group B The region (medium risk) arrives in Hong Kong.
The first case involved a 17-year-old woman (No. 12298) who arrived in Hong Kong from Kyrgyzstan via flight OZ721 on October 15 and tested positive at the temporary sample collection center of Hong Kong International Airport.
Two confirmed men arrived in Hong Kong from the Philippines on the same Cathay Pacific flight on October 13
As for the other two cases, both arrived in Hong Kong from the Philippines via flight CX906 on October 13, involving a 63-year-old man (No. 12299) and a 47-year-old man (No. 12300) at Chek Lap Kok Regal Airport. The hotel and the Ramada Seaview Hotel in Sai Yingpan were quarantined. The two had been vaccinated in the Philippines earlier.
