For the first time, the Lenggries Art Week took place in the former barracks this year.

With over 1,600 visitors, a large number of guests came - and they mostly liked the premises.

Lenggries

- The Lenggries Art Week ended a few days ago. The show, which took place for the first time in an empty building of the Prinz-Heinrich-Kaserne, attracted visitors in 1644. This exceeded the organizers' expectations. "We are very satisfied and are happy about the positive response," says Günter Unbescheid, chairman of the artists' association Lenggries (KVL), when asked by our newspaper. The KVL had extended the show by a week at short notice and again offered a “Long Art Night” with music by Schorschi Unterholzner on Saturday evening. That was well received. "In the additional week there were another 300 visitors," reports Unterholzner.

For comparison: in the past few years the show has always been held for two weeks in the Lenggries parish home.

An average of 900 to 1000 visitors were counted here.

Broad catchment area

In the barracks, the artists now had much more space available on two floors.

"There were only a few visitors who did not like the location and who found it more comfortable in the parish hall," reports Unbescheid.

Most of the guests were “very satisfied to enthusiastic” about the barracks.

The willingness to donate was also quite good.

In addition, some artists were able to sell works.

The audience came not only from Lenggries and Tölz, but from the area between Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Ammersee and Tegernsee.

"It always plays a role where our guest artists come from," says Unbescheid.

Fortunately, numerous younger art enthusiasts also came this year.

According to Unbescheid, the advertising on Facebook and Instagram has also paid off.

"Our actions went very well there."

There will be talks with the community shortly

With compliance with the Corona requirements, there would have been "almost no problems," reports the chairman.

"The people had the fullest understanding." There were only isolated discussions.

The KVL team wants to discuss with the municipality shortly how things will continue.

One would actually like to stay in the barracks, "but we just have to see how everything develops," says Unbescheid.

Because there will also be an art week in the coming year, and the numerous financial funding applications will have to be submitted shortly.
