According to information from the police, the detainee, who is looking for a leave of absence, could now be abroad.
"There is increasing evidence that the woman has left Germany," said a police spokesman in Kaiserslautern on Sunday.
Statements on the specific whereabouts of those convicted of community murder cannot yet be made, it said.
Zweibrücken - The 55-year-old should have returned to the Zweibrücken prison on Thursday afternoon after four days of imprisonment.
The manhunt for the woman began on Friday.
She has been in custody since 2006 and should have been released in February 2022 after serving a life sentence.
The police had not ruled out the fact that the French citizen might have fled abroad in the search notice.
