Uri Buri, his Akko fish restaurant, formerly Sant-Jean-d'Acre, has been considered for ages as one of the best restaurants in Israel.
The man with the white beard, like a ZZ Top musician, and the generous eyes cultivates the spirit of adventure.
He brought back from his youthful travels the taste of others and the art of accommodating flavors.
Difficulties do not scare him.

In May, his restaurant and boutique hotel in the old Arab town of Akko were burned down by Arab rioters.
Its staff narrowly escaped the flames and a trapped Efendi hotel resident succumbed.
The ashes had barely cooled when the chief rolled up his sleeves to rebuild.
