Iron Man, Behind You: The Revolutionary Invention May Help Athletes and Artists Improve Their Abilities, And This is Just the Beginning

A team of researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), in collaboration with scientists from Sweden, have developed a smart fabric that senses and learns the user's movements and breathing patterns, and even responds to them.

This amazing invention, recently introduced, is called OmniFibre.

Although it is still in the development stages and the work on it is still a lot, but at this rate - we will not be surprised if in the future we see suits that will give those who wear the same abilities that have so far only been seen in superhero movies.

In addition to its learning capabilities, Omnifibre is a thin, soft, light and flexible robotic fiber that is able to bend, stretch, fold and "beat" as needed, using compressed air that passes through it.

Beyond that, it is a relatively inexpensive material to manufacture, which can fit into ordinary clothes and give them marvelous capabilities.

And how exactly does this fabric help us? Well, here's a basic example that MIT people bring up: Imagine a beginning athlete who wants to learn to breathe properly and neatly, in order to improve his athletic performance. The smart suit he will wear has already taken off and “learned” the breathing and movement patterns of a more experienced athlete, and it will guide the novice athlete how to breathe through timed beats and stretches, which he will feel and breathe according to. The same goes for dancers, singers and even beginner painters - who can use smart gloves. Another and no less important option: corona recoverers or other diseases, who want to regulate their breathing and receive close guidance, exhalation after inhalation.

"We not only capture the breathing patterns and movements of the expert athlete or artist, but we have found a way to convey and illustrate them to someone who is just starting out," said scientist Ozgon Klik Asper, a senior MIT team member working on the project. .

Asper and her colleagues strive to continue to streamline their smart fibers, develop a real production line and give a whole new meaning to the concept of Dress Smart.
