The idea of introducing a security watch was born in Bavaria over 20 years ago.
Voluntary citizens strengthen the population's feeling of security through their additional presence and effectively counter the spreading lack of culture of looking away.
The courageous members of the security guard act as a link to the local police and help to prevent vandalism and disorder. The provision of information and small assistance for the citizen are part of the everyday work of every “security guard”. Before the reinforcement forces can do their service to the community, they have to complete a training course with a total of 40 lessons in theory and practice. In addition to self-defense, it also teaches legal theory and practical knowledge. Above all, it is important to get to know your own powers and to use them tactically and psychologically correctly.
The security guard is active in public parks, large shopping and leisure centers, underground parking lots, large housing estates and even during police searches. Above all, it is intended to counteract vandalism and street crime. In the event of suspicious perceptions, they inform the police operations center via the handheld radio. Citizens with a sense of responsibility and moral courage are very welcome at the security guard. Anyone who is at least 18 and at most 62 years old, has completed school or vocational training, is ready to be available for at least five hours of work per month, is capable of field work and lives on site or in the immediate vicinity can apply.
