The 2021/22 season in the Athena Wiener League for women in basketball will kick off tonight (Sunday), when in the main game of the opening round, the champion and trophy holder of Maccabi Ramat Gan will host Elitzur Sigalit Raveh Aesthetics Holon (18:00).
An hour later (19:00) another game will start, between Elitzur Neve David Ramla and the girls of Herzliya, which was brought forward by a day due to Ramla's participation in the Eurocup factory.
Roi Lazar will lead the doubles player from Ramat Gan for the second season in a row.
Tal Lev and Tamar Bergel, who played for the team last season, and 17-year-old Jordan Gerzon (1.87 m) - an Israeli national team player - will be at his disposal in the opening opening round.
Giant Kay James (1.96m), Alicia Jenkins and Tyler Mingo will also play.
Holon is led by coach Roi Eisenberg, who is starting his ninth season with the team.
Under him will play captain Daniel Reber who continues for another season, Noga Peleg Peletz who joined the team this summer, and two strong inside players: Daniel Adams, who is well known to basketball fans in Israel (1.86 m) and Kelsey Boone (1.93 m).
In the second game of the evening, Elitzur Neve David Ramla will host the Herzliya girls.
The top singing coach will open her second season at Ramla, aiming to compete for the championship plate after being knocked out in the playoff semi-finals last season.
Alyssa Baron continues for another season, and was joined by Nofar Shalom, Miriam Hanun, and the talented young woman Gili Eisner.
They will collaborate with three new foreigners, two of whom rise to a height of 1.93m: Emma Cannon and Glory Johnson.
The Herzliya girls will present to them the special combination between coach Danny Gut and his daughter Jordan Gut, who joined the team this season.
By the way, the last time a father coached his daughter in the league, this happened in Herzliya, when Corey Carr coached his daughter Tiara Levin two years ago.
