Wearing a mask is no longer compulsory in the 1097 primary schools of Seine-et-Marne since Monday. Reactions at the time of release

Joris, a 10-year-old student at Charles-Péguy school, in Meaux, is happy at the idea of wearing the mask the most in class: “It's too good!

We breathe better!

But sometimes it makes me weird because I say to myself: “Oh no!

I forgot my mask!

At the end of the class, this Monday at 11:30 am, he runs to his mother, Adeline.

She is no less satisfied with the end of the obligation to wear the mask in elementary schools in Seine-et-Marne: “Psychologically, it was hard for the children.

This created difficulty concentrating.

"

Next to her, Samantha, another mom, nods.

“We were just waiting for this.

The children complained about it.

And then it was a stress for them, that of having forgotten their mask.

So, we removed all the masks from the satchel.

My daughter, Sarah, 7, it really bothered her.

Especially since she wears glasses.

"Samantha pauses and launches with a wry smile:" The mask did not prevent my daughter from catching the Covid!

"His daughter, Noéline, a student in CE1, agrees:" We've been wearing them to school for a long time.

It feels good to breathe when you are working.

"

"His son Rayan, a student in CM1, confirms:" We were hot with the masks.

"

College and high school students must continue to wear it

Noting the lasting improvement in the health situation in twelve departments, including Seine-et-Marne, a ministerial decree was issued on October 13, lifting, as of Monday, October 18, the obligation for students to wear the mask in elementary school, outside and inside.

This concerns 164,000 schoolchildren in Seine-et-Marne in the department in 1097 public and private elementary schools.

On the other hand, only children attending primary school are concerned.

This measure will not apply to teachers and other adults working in primary schools.

They should continue to wear the mask, both inside and out.

It also does not concern the 140,000 or so students enrolled in the 145 public and private secondary schools and high schools in the department.

The only Île-de-France department concerned for the moment

The pupils of the schools concerned who eat lunch in the canteen will no longer have to eat in groups of classes and at the same table every day.

All sports activities will be allowed inside and outside.

Seine-et-Marne is the first department in Île-de-France to benefit from this flexibility measure.

The population of Seine-et-Marne meets the health conditions defined by the decrees.

In particular the condition indicating that the incidence rate must stabilize below the alert threshold of 50 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and this in a sustainable manner, that is to say for at least five consecutive days.

Apart from Seine-et-Marne, on the same date, the rates are 58 in Hauts-de-Seine, 59 in Essonne, 65 in Yvelines, 67 in Val-d'Oise, 68 in Val -de-Marne, 70 in Seine-Saint-Denis and 74 in Paris.
