Colombian businessman Alex Saab, alleged financier of the questioned President Nicolás Maduro, appeared this Monday before a federal judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, in his first hearing after his extradition from Cabo Green.
Saab, who wore an orange jumpsuit, appeared virtually at this initial hearing in which he was charged with charges of money laundering and overvaluation of contracts.

During the hearing, Saab was notified that Henry Bell will be his lawyer, appointed by the US justice.
Bell asked to meet with his client so that he could discuss the charges he faces.
The judge denied Saab bail and a next hearing was scheduled on November 1.
Saab was extradited to the United States from Cape Verde on Saturday.
He was arrested in June 2020 in the African nation after a red notice from Interpol due to his indictment in the US.
