Antisemitic incident in the United States:
New York police arrested a 39-year-old woman who tried to burn down a Jewish yeshiva in the city last Thursday.
The security cameras of the Flatbush Yeshiva, a Jewish institution located in Brooklyn and operating a large educational array from kindergarten to the end of high school, captured at 7:27 p.m.
The suspect then set fire to her and tried to get her to spread into the institution.
An armed security guard of the yeshiva went out to the figure and smuggled her out, putting out the fire and updating the management of the institution and the New York Police Department on the tragic incident.
Large police forces arrived at the scene and began a comprehensive investigation of the incident, which is one of a long line of antisemitic incidents that have befallen New York Jews in recent months.
The investigation revealed that various security cameras caught the woman, a young woman of African-American descent, buying the gasoline jerrycan and even walking around the area with a megaphone and making hateful cries.
This morning, the Fox News network reported that police were able to arrest a 39-year-old woman named Sherry Jones, with arson and attempted assault on the yeshiva attributed to her.
The police prosecutor has already filed a serious indictment against the young woman which includes suspicion of hate crime, attempted arson and reckless behavior.
Following the incident, senior members of the large Jewish community, including state senator Simcha Felder, expressed great concern about the situation and undermined the security of the Jewish public in the city.
The Flatbush Yeshiva is the flagship institution of Jewish Orthodoxy in the United States and is a significant symbol of the Jewish public in the city. Therefore, any violation of it naturally arouses great concern.
