One day, members of the "Key Books" association were asked by the Lakia local council if they could come almost immediately, "from moment to moment."

The librarian came to the place with the mobile library, read to the children a story and later, offered them to participate in the game and draw the thing that makes them the most fun in the village.

All the children without exception drew the mobile library.

"There is not a day that librarians do not send messages in our WhatsApp group that they have returned home with chills, after a child, parent or teacher has approached them and moved them," says Gili Biger, the association's CEO. On the mobile library. "

The association was established in 2006 and the idea behind it is that books are a supreme value in the success of the future generation and that there is great importance in preserving the value of paper, authenticity, written word and language. "Sefri Key" currently operates 10 mobile libraries, which are subscribed to by more than 25,000 children and teenagers, most of whom live in the periphery or in Arab and mixed communities and cities.

The mobile libraries are multilingual and you can find thousands of books in Hebrew, Arabic and English, ones that are suitable for all different age groups. For the past five years, a mobile library of "key books" has been operating with great success in collaboration with the Lottery in the mixed city of Lod, where residents from all backgrounds come and enjoy. For the past two years, Mifal HaPais has assisted and supported the establishment of another mobile library, in Yeruham, which is used by the Jews living in the city, as well as many Bedouins who come from the surrounding villages.

Apart from these two cities, with the support of the Lottery, three mobile libraries have also been established for the Arab and Bedouin sectors, in the Negev region, the Galilee region and the Wadi Ara region (northern Sharon) :.

These mobile libraries, which serve about 17 localities throughout the country, also operate five days a week, eight hours a day, and each locality receives a weekly visit on a regular day.

In those places, at best, there is one public library for all residents and not every parent has the option to take their child to it.

Therefore, the mobile library arrives every day in a different area of the city, according to a regular schedule that residents know and all they have to do is get out of the houses and enjoy the variety of options the library offers, including outdoor activities (or indoors in winter), story time, mass-playing children's Scouts, various workshops such as creation, writers' meetings, animation, puppetry, writing and more and of course - borrowing books.

Anyone, at any age, can subscribe to the mobile library, choose a book to take home, return the following week and pick up another book: "In the digital world it's not easy to connect children to books, but we find creative ways to interest them. "It is to make the books as accessible to them as possible and because of the lack of infrastructure that exists in the periphery and in Arab society, we focus on these places and dedicate our attention to them," explains Bigger.

"More than 50 percent of our activities take place in Arab society, without any political agenda, but only out of the need created there."

"It is very important that those who stand in front of the children and youth fit into the position," Bigger sums up the leading factors for the success of mobile libraries across the country.

"All our staff are very professional, patient and most importantly - know how to read the children well and understand what they want and what will make them get closer and fall in love with books."
