Former US Secretary of State Colin Powell died today of infection with the Corona virus, at the age of 84.
Powell's family announced in a statement that he died this morning of complications related to Covid 19, adding that Powell was fully vaccinated with the anti-coronavirus vaccine at the Walter Reed Center.
Powell assumed the position of United States Secretary of State in January 2001 as the first African-American minister to reach this position and held a number of positions in the American administration in the Ministries of Defense and State, but the role he played in the invasion and destruction of Iraq was a black point in his career by submitting reports to the United Nations about alleged evidence to justify it, which was later found to be false.
