A power line to connect wind farms on the high seas to the mainland is to lead across the island of Baltrum.
The Baltrum corridor is significantly more space and environmentally friendly compared to the corridor via Langeoog, which has also been tested, said the Office for Regional State Development (ArL) Weser-Ems on Monday in Oldenburg.
The course of the power line was checked for both islands.

The islands have underground freshwater resources, so-called freshwater lenses, which are used to provide drinking water for basic supplies or in emergencies.
It is feared that the underground bores for the power cables could damage these freshwater lenses.
The planned cable systems are to connect wind farms that are more than 100 kilometers off the North Sea coast of Lower Saxony.
The corridor that has now been established crosses the Europipe 2 gas pipeline north of Baltrum and then runs parallel to it.
Baltrum is to be drilled under in the east from the tidal flats to the north beach.
Between Neßmersiel and Dornumersiel, the cable corridor meets the mainland near Dornumergrode.
