After a fatal accident at a level crossing in the Nied district of Frankfurt last year, Deutsche Bahn renewed the safety technology there. On Monday, the Oeserstrasse crossing was closed to traffic, as a company spokeswoman said in Frankfurt. Cars are expected to be diverted by early December. There is a temporary crossing for pedestrians and cyclists.
Frankfurt / Main - The new security system is said to go into operation on December 11th.
“The first step in the step-by-step plan published in autumn 2020, with which the city of Frankfurt am Main and DB are improving the traffic situation at the level crossing on Oeserstraße in Frankfurt-Nied,” said the railway company.
In a second step, an underpass for pedestrians is to be built, followed by an underpass for car traffic.
