In the garage fire in Völklingen with one dead and two seriously injured, a deflagration is said to have led to the fire.
As the police announced on Monday, it is still unclear how the deflagration on Saturday afternoon could have come about.
A 73 year old man died in the fire.
Völklingen - son and grandson - 51 and 16 years old - were seriously injured.
According to the information, the 51-year-old had tried to rush to his father and son to help.
Father and son are now out of danger to life and are housed in clinics.
The investigations into the exact cause of the fire and the amount of damage are ongoing.
